Guide

Keep a Windows PC awake while the monitor is off.

The goal is simple: network access stays alive, Remote Desktop still works, and the physical monitor does not stay bright after hours.

Use display standby, not system sleep

System sleep can interrupt remote sessions and background tasks. Display standby targets the monitor while the workstation continues running.

Add policy around the behavior

A useful setup needs workday hours, after-hours auto-off, weekend rules, and remote session awareness. Manual display control alone is not enough for shared office routines.
